Jon Hamm's not-so-private parts are reportedly causing quite the stir on the 'Mad Men' set. According to the New York Daily News' Confidenti@l, an AMC Network insider says the allegedly well-endowed actor was while shooting his scenes. “This season takes place in the 1960s, where the pants are very tight and leave little to the imagination,” the source tells Confidentia@l. “Jon’s impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear.” The insider even adds that during Seasons 1 and 2 of the show, a lot of the promotional posters, billboards and ad campaigns considering Hamm's 'impressive anatomy' was making an impressive showing. “His privates are the inside joke,” says the source, who adds that Hamm “knows what he’s got.” As is now public knowledge. He's been pictured stepping out clearly. “Imagine how distracting that would be on the side of a bus or building,” the insider laughs.
“When the promotional pictures came back the first few seasons, we had to work with them. Everyone was concerned about too much Christina Hendricks boob, but it’s Jon that has the most to show. It’s a good problem to have.” Still, telling the Daily News, “It is ridiculous and not really funny at all.
I’d appreciate you taking the high road and not resorting to something childish like this that’s been blogged about 1,000 times.” See a photo of Jon filming 'Mad Men' Season 6 in Hawaii below.
Nintendomaniac I saw both – and to be honest I feel both were pretty bad, but if I am honest – I think AvP: Requiem was the better of the two from a personal perspective Lord knows, I actually had to stop the DVD and go and make a coffee as the film made me wretch in one scene!!! But both films are pretty abysmal overall If there had not been so many changes to Directors and crew as well as massive disagreements over story – They may just have been able to secure rights to the DARK HORSE COMICS AvP Story which is infinitely far better than either of these movies. All I can say is that most of the predator movies hold up pretty well for the most part. I actually really enjoyed the first AVP, but the second AVP was by far the worst to me. Half the movie is a build up to something that never happens and the alien/predator hybrid that had so much potential was underwhelming (hey james stole my word, lol) with nothing that special or super bad ass about it.
Plus the fact that the movie is so dark you never actually get to see the hybrid that well. It could have been a regular alien and not that much of the story would’ve changed at all. Then preadators came out and surprised me. Not a great or fantastic movie but better than I expected and entertaining at least. The only thing i always hated about this movie is, you have 3 predators and what like 6 aliens.
And in the flashback 3 predators fight 500000 aliens ok yeah they loose but thats normal i think. But here 2 predators die from 2 aliens. 1 ok gets a cheapshot in the back. But the other 1 kills of that alien. And than fights the alien that is called nethead in the games.
But i mean why does he looses. Its a freaking awesome fight. And he still loses. I mean i am more of an alien fan but still it would have been better if the predator won.
Because now we are down to 1 predator. I thought if they had changed that up maby a little bit. The movie what have been better. Oow and just kill the woman. Who cares about the humans. I hope part 2 is up next not that it is any better. I know I should not read too much into something like Predator or Alien vs.
Predator because it’s fiction, but there’s something I’ve always found funny: How do the Predators have all that technology and advanced spaceships, then most of them seem like simple hunters? Many of them wear lion cloth-looking clothes and just seems like savages. There’s already been much debate on this topic. Some people seem to be under the impression that the Predators must have gotten all the stuff from some other place. Others say that their civilization may have broken into two parts, or more, with some of the Predators being highly educated academics and scientists, and others being mindless drones and/or hunters.
Is there an actual canon answer though? If there’s any hardcore Predator fan here who wants to enlighten me, feel free to do so 馃檪. I sort of liked the first AvP movie. It was a popcorn flick that was designed to be a slug fest and a big time waster. It was entertaining to me, especially the fight scenes.
AvP:R, on the other hand, I hated. The movie just was not entertaining for me. In fact, there’s a few parts that I really,.really. HATED about that movienamely the part where the hunter’s son dies (I don’t like children getting killed in movies) and the part where the pregnant woman is implanted with alien embryos and has 3 of them burst from her VERY pregnant belly thus killing her and her unborn child (I don’t like seeing pregnant women killed, and I dislike EVEN MORE seeing babies get killed).
It made my stomach churn and I very nearly vomited. True fucking story.
Bottom line, AvP = mindless brawl that is kinda fun; AvP:R = sicko slasher flick without any payoff. Oh boy, I remember going to see this on the first showing opening day.
I’d gotten drunk as fuck the night before and still had a good buzz; looked around the theater and noticed a bunch of young kids and thought, “that’s cool their parents take them to a movie that’s sure to be super violent and gory” Then the PG-13 rating came up and I wished I’d looked into the movie more before I got all hyped about it on the potential alone. It was all downhill from there. AvP: R was a bit more respectable, but I’m sure that’s tomorrow’s review. I don’t like the last days of October in CMMM. James really rushes to get done all the videos, and doesn’t talk too much about each one of them.
There is a lot of material to talk about or to work with, and it seems that James only says: This is AvP, a crossover between this 2 monsters, not as bad as everyone says, but neither is a master piece. Please James, I know that there is a lot of work to get this videos done, but you can do better reviews.
In the first ones, you put a lot of effort on them, i’m talking about the Frankenstein ones, you talk about the entire movie: plot, characters, story, the endings, the deaths, everything. The problems with the Alien VS Predator movies: They don’t fit inside the ‘Moderny’ era. It would be MUCH cooler if it was Aliens VS Predators VS Space Marines instead of just. Ye olden arcaeologists or later.school kidsand the chick from that 24 show. They took it from Horror-SciFi and tried to just go STRAIGHT into action/CG and that brought the series to a new low. Like James says, NONE of the human characters are memorable. There’s no one with any charisma, but not just thatthey’re all.STUPID AS FUCK.
It’s like seriously, get the hell outta there! “Oh but we gotta go find Joe-Joe and his little dog first! They might get eaten by aliens! We can’t have that!” It’s.like that. =/ We need more badasses. And how comes they gotta kill off the COOL looking Predators first EVERY TIME!
Damnthat really makes the story suck when the RUNT Pred is the last one standing each time. (Well, till the end).
My biggest problems with this movie is that they got the concept of Alien vs. Predator wrong.
Now the setup was good (with the pyramid and stuff). But the idea of Alien vs. Predator (at least for me) is quality vs. The Alien is quick, silent, sneaky, and attacks mainly in numbers (quantity). The Predator is stronger, smarter, and has more weapons (quality).
In one scene, a single alien kills 2 out of 3 predators. That’s not right. I know that they are young bloods, but this kind of takes away any credibility from the predators (seeing as how there are tons of aliens, the predators never stood a chance then). On top of that, it seemed to me that (while there were some decent fights with the alien and predator) the humans were mainly the ones fighting the aliens or the predators. That just goes against the whole concept of the freak’n movie. The lead character was just a cheap, bad attempt at recreating Ripley or Vasquez and all guys in the movie were useless.
I still like AVP: Requiem better because (though the characters were bad) it had more fights between the alien and predator (which is all the fans really wanted to see). I don’t hate the first AVP movie, I’ll watch it, but it just had those 2 big flaws in it, that’s all. Great review (as always), James!!! You haven’t reviewed Predator, yet?
In any case, the mini-review of it is appreciated. And now, we’re getting to the point where I haven’t seen these movies. I never saw AVP, because, like you said, everyone kept saying how horrible it was. We don’t even get Aliens vs. Predators with Space Marines thrown into the mix, like was promised in the old comics and toys. Yeah, there’s no way this could have lived up to the hype, either way, though. Still, yeah, what you said about somes it up.
This movie is cheap, underwhelming, and not very memorable. What I hate about AVP is that the title is a lie. The Predators were the good guys, and they won before the movie even started, they only keep the Aliens around so they can kick their asses over and over. I wanted to see Alien vs.
Predator, not this crappy fan fiction by Predator lovers. What makes this even more pathetic is that the Alien series is known for being super feminine (the Aliens are sleek with no armor, they kill to make babies and don’t use weapons, the main hero of the series is Sigourney Weaver) and the Predator series is known for being very masculine (the Predators are muscular with lots of armor, they kill for fun and they love weapons, the main hero of the series is Arnold Schwarzenegger), so a real fight would have been much more fun. The people who made this film should be ashamed of themselves, like they were caught fucking a donkey or something. And that was so lame when the Predator and the black chick teamed up, that doesn’t even make sense, the Predator should have wanted to kill humans even more than Aliens; because if the Aliens got them first, they could make more Aliens.
James, you say mutliple times you don’t think the movie is bad it’s just not good and the reasons you cite it are it’s non memorable characters and the cheapness. But that’s exactly why everyone hated it. You really summed up exactly what everyone was saying when it was released.
You’ve just avoided the hype wagon all of these years. Just know your distaste for the movie may sound soft but it’s dead on. I too saw the movie well after it’s release and loved the premise but hated the acting and characters.
It really fell flat and the script should have been rewritten a few times before going to production. The world of Alien and Predator is awesome, both in teh same movie is epic yet no one can write a decent screenplay. One of the first mistakes of the first AvsP movie was that it was PG-13. Sure, it had some alien gore here and there, but it was an odd choice to make considering that the Predator and Alien movies were never so tame.
Still though, the action was fun and surprisingly brutal in terms of how they kill each other. Personally, one concept I loved about AvsP was really digging into the Predator culture. I remember a human once was taken to the Predator homeworld in fact. That was a fucking awesome story arc. Too bad the next movie really drew back the ambition and was placed in a small town with some terrible cliche characters. That said, I hope you give Predators a run. It was a hell of a predator movie in my opinion.
I think the main problems with the AVP films are 1) They mess around with the established lore of both creatures 2) Linking in with this they messed around with the Xenomorphs origins, now these films dont fit cannon as Prometheus states the Engineers created them! 3) These films focus too much on the human characters, lets face it no one gives a dam about the humans, the ONLY legitimate way I feel that the human characters might have relevance would be if they had an alien vs predator film with Ripley and either Schwazennager or Danny Glover (cant remember their characters names lol) in them. Wouldnt it be cool to see a film where Ripley went in expecting xenomorphs and then had to face predators instead/aswell?!
4) There needs to be a definitive winner and as both of these species are just that species this film should be larger in scope leading to the anhialation of one of the species and the spread of the other, leading me into point 5) The films are both set on earth, yawn, why not set them on the alien home planet (planet the aliens are first discovered I mean ala alien) or even the predator planet. Hell why not have it on a completely different alien species planet and expand the universe with new creatures, possibly even throw some engineers (space jockeys) into the mix. 6) The avp films do nothing to progress the overall narrative of the solo franchises as a whole, we learn nothing new about either species that we didnt already know before.
7) And this is a particular problem rampant throughout all the alien solo films as well, the xenomorphs acid blood is depicted in so many varying strengths its rediculous, alien 1 shows is can burn through several layers, yet in other alien films and especially the alien vs predator films (such as the first where she puts the acid on her forehead) it barely does much damage and seems to stop burning pretty quickly. 8) Food for thought, why is it that the predators are so obsessed with hunting and tribe like activity etc when they are so technologically advanced, I mean they certainly dont seem nerdy enough to have built all these spaceships, cloaking devices etc and surely that goes against their belief of fair sport in the hunt, going against humans with the equivalent of pea shooters when compared to their cloaking devices and laser cannons, it just doesnt seem to fit. One idea is that they maybe stole the tech of a conqured species.
I always also thought it strange and this is way off topic but regardless, that The Thing from The Thing (mainly in John Carpenters remake and arguably superior version) comes to earth in a space ship but then throughout the film it seems like it is more a creature of base insticts rather than intelligent enough to have built the spacecraft, perhaps it stole the spacecraft, or was sent out as a weapon by the real occupants of the spacecraft that we never see?! I dunno, I digress, my point is that AVP films in theory are a great idea and I’d love to see them done properly ignoring the current two in cannon but by the creators of the solo franchises, sadly I dont ever see this happening, but the reality of what they have become is highly dissappointing!
Please James review the individual 3 predator films (especially predators) after the AVP film reviews and can you make the reviews a bit longer, I know you are very busy and I can appreciate that these take time to do, but some of us poor folks rely on your hillarious and informative videos to brighten up our otherwise drearilly dull lifes. I think all can agree more James = more smiles 馃檪 How about getting Mike to co review some films next monster madness, it would be interesting to see his view on alot of these classics, I’m sure I’m not alone in thinking this!
Keep up the great videos anyways, especially the Monster Madness, its the thing I look forward to most every Halloween now 馃檪. If I’m not mistaken, the “Bishop” in Alien 3 was also an android.
He.claims. to be the creator of the Bishop androids, but if you remember, one of the prisoners hits him in the head with a pipe right as Ripley is about to jump into the molten metal, and it rips the side of his head open. You don’t get a very good look, but can see his ear hanging off of his head, and he’s completely unfazed by it. When I saw the movie, I took it as a confirmation that the Weyland-Yutani corp couldn’t be trusted, as his claim to actually be the human Bishop was revealed to be just another lie. Hey i just wanted to say that alien vs predator are related to the movie prometheus because it is believed that the mala’kak (engineers) in prometheus created the xenomorphs as a weapon against there enemy, the yautja (predators). In the movie Aliens the unidentified spaceship was an mala’kak spaceship.
The reason for it to have all the alien eggs may have been to destroy the human race because the yautja improve their weapon, armor, and tactics based on fighting humans. At the end of Prometheus we saw a xenomorph that looked slightly different.
This xenomorph is believed to be the prototype xenomorph or the protomorph. We also see a mala’kak mask in the trophy room of the yautja. Most of this is just predictions based fact and observation but all three franchises are directly related. AvsP was decent enough. Not great, not bad.
Kinda like Alien 3 eh? It was ultimately a fun watch overall. I was a bit disappointed with the gore in the movie, but they managed to fit in a bit of cool alien deaths. The facehugger getting cut in half was awesome. I think the overall problem is that they over think the plot.
They try to make it canon but it distracts from the name of the game. Two franchises clashing together. We didn’t need the amount of back story fit into the film. I’d argue that all the movie would really need to remind the audience of is that Predators are obsessed with hunting. Freddy vs Jason was a much better franchise vs franchise movie because it balanced the act of backstory, tribute, and never took itself too seriously.
AvsP just loves the smell of it’s own shit and nobody likes a smug movie. I actually worked on the VFX for AvP in London back in 2004. There is actually much more CG in there than people realise partly because a lot of the animatronics from ADI were not working well on set. But the best part of it was that a couple of years later when I was working in LA I randomly met a screen writer called Peter Briggs in a British pub called the Fox and Hounds.
He wrote the script for the first Hellboy film. While we were talking he asked me what films I had worked on in London and I mentioned that AvP was one of them. What I learned was that he was actually the guy who had penned the original AvP script in the 90s.
From what he told me, the original idea was to have an “Enemy Mine” style to it set in the same time-line as Aliens/Alien3. The only human character would have been quite Ripley’esque and who would have been the last surviving Colonial Marine from an ill-fated mission. She would have crashed landed on the planet full of Predators versus Xenomorphs with one of the Predators taking the decision to protect her against the aliens. Pity, it could have been pretty epic. I saw also that one and i said it and i will say this again, they only made those films in order to satisfy the fans that had the need to see those two creatures fighting each other.I like the way they make the whole thing meaning the creatures, the special efects, the action scenes. But as you said its good and at least they connect it pretty well with the other movies.Other than that for me its more action packed movies than giving attention to the plot and the atmosphere making it not even comes close to the original predator and alien. SPOILER-alert One thing which I would like to add is that in AVP, its the first time when a human teams up with one of the predators.
That’s worth noticing, the yautja (predator-species) has a strong sense of honor and are more civilized than the xenomorphs, who are more beastly zerg-like creatures. But in both Predator and Predator 2, the predator hunts humans in true slasher-fashion. Sure, in the end of Predator 2, danny glover’s character gets some old flint-lock pistol as a trophy from the head-predator, but the relations between human and predator, up to that point, had always been one of predator and prey. But in AVP, things kind of changed. Though they were forced to ally by circumstance, I liked the fact that they do have respect for humans who impress them with being able to survive under duress or having to make hard decisions, like sacrificing one for the good of all.
